Preceded by the costume parade in the 1400/1500, repeats the contention of the Palio di San Michele Arcangelo in the "Four Gates" of the city competing in a race with a cart pulled by a donkey, in archery and the sling in the race on donkeys ridden sleeping.
After the race, according to tradition, the Door that wins the Palio has the right to burn the "Bastola," the old "enemy" of Gualdo that set fire to the Castello della Rocchetta. After the award of the Palio, which each year is made by a prominent Italian painter, Gualdo and tourists gather in the streets and squares of the city. During the three day event remain open "taverns", characteristic of the local center and meeting places and food tasting.
