The Barrel Race
Fraction Rigali, Last weekend in July
Produced fun of the classic rural culture, the event, which takes place in the first weekend of August in the district of Rigali, is in a race which takes place from the foot of the village church, along a steep ascent, where groups of twenty competitors are pushing a large solid oak wood barrel with a capacity of six tons.The event reaches the high tones of suggestiveness for the effort of the partecipants. Infact they are called to cover in the shortest possible time the stretch of 400 meters, which divides the line of departure from that of arrival. Since there is no division in rions, the event is open to all groups wishing to engage in this particular experience, for which the organizing committee is giving away a ton of wine.
